Recently I created a list of items I'd like to create and get up in my shop, name cards just happened to on my list - I had created one set for the fall awhile back and really enjoyed working on them. I love the idea of walking into a party/dinner and looking to see where I'm seated, like a game or surprise. This months PaperTwirlies Team challenge was perfect - it gave me an excuse to get working on some name cards. Who wouldn't love to see their name on these pretties!

I have always been artistic, drawing on whatever paper I could get my hands on - as I got older I still loved being creative; especially with paper. My biggest project as a pre-teen was a bunny house made completely out of paper. I made the bunny family of four and from that I just kept going till I had a house made out of a large box and all their accessories completely out of paper. I went to college for graphic design, worked for a company designing kids Valentine's, gift bags, gift wrap and other paper items and I now work for a company involved with paper. It's an obsession.

I started quilling almost 6 years ago and would love to be able to do it full time. I sell my stuff on the web a at www.quillynilly.etsy.com and here in town at a shop called Handmade Creativity (Bartlett, Tn). I love looking at something and trying to solve it by creating it in paper. I'm whimsical and fun and that tends to follow through in my creations.

I've been up to my eyeballs in cake and cupcakes lately. I've been thinking, dreaming and brainstorming in cupcakes (mostly Batman theme for my boys birthdays last month). I LOVE CUPCAKES and I love to make them as pretty as possible. Unfortunately you can't make a Batman cupcake look "pretty". That's "just not cool, Mom." So, for Paper Twirlies, I set forth to make Quilled Flower Cupcake Toppers! The perfect little addition to give your cupcake a little something extra (just please don't put it on a Batman cupcake!)

My favorite medium to work with is paper! I love paper! I go crazy over paper! I discovered paper quilling (aka paper fillagre) when I was about 13 years old and my great-aunt (who is a nun) paper quilled my brother's high school graduation announcement. I was fascinated, so I ran to the library (no internet back then people!) and got out every book I could about paper quilling and I have been obsessed ever since!

March Papertwirlies Team Challenge

The latest Paper Twirlies team challenge is to make something that dresses up something else or that adds a finishing touch. Any kind of decorative container or wrapper fits the bill, like boxes, lollipop covers, bag toppers, muffin picks, book or journal covers, picture frames, anything!

Throughout the month of March we will be featuring the creative solutions from the Paper Twirlies team for this challenge. This week please take a look at EnsorcelledMinds lovely card case with quilled embellishment.

I put my quilling on a card case to package up a set of cards. This way, the case can be refilled as cards are used and the quilling can be enjoyed for longer!

To be ensorcelled means to be hypnotized by means of sorcery. That's exactly what I am when I'm in my studio creating! I make greeting cards because I think keeping in touch in a physical form has greater sentiment than the digital form. People are tactile and a message they can hold in their hands is innately more memorable.

Our cards use clean lines and minimal frou fou! They offer dimension without mailing bulk by the techniques we use. We use only archival quality papers because, when you want to stand out, only the best will do.
