Shower Drops Paper Quilled Earrings by Quilly Nilly

The third entry in the Papertwirlies Etsy Team Challenge, Spring Wake Up!, is by Quilly Nilly. Quilly Nilly has bright, playful, cheery designs. She has chosen to pamper us with these Shower Drop earrings. That's one way to make you wake up with a smile! Here's what she has to say about her entry:

"The first thing I do every morning after waking up is to take a very long, very hot shower. I have two children, two dogs and a husband; needless to say I don't have enough ME time; well I do when I'm in my shower. It gives me time to think about my day ahead and to be somewhere peaceful and quiet. All that and I come out smelling fabulous!"

Quilly Nilly's entry is two-fold: not only was it inspired by a morning shower, but it can also mean April showers bring May flowers!  These earrings might be just the thing for Mother's day.

A little about Quilly Nilly:
"I accidentally discovered quilling 7 years ago this May. I was researching something on the internet, ended up on Martha Stewart's website where I saw the coolest paper ribbons - done with quilling. I went to the local Michael's store on my lunch break, purchased papers, tools and a book and taught myself to quill and haven't stopped much since.

I try to be original with my designs, which could be in the colors I use or the style that something is created. I tend to work in brighter contemporary colors but will sometimes go through a phase of more traditional colors which are a nice change and seem to appreciated just as much. I love how quilling calms me, which people don't believe when they see what is actually required to twirl paper and create an item but it does. I love the problem solving part of quilling too - I've got a sketch now how many strips and how long do they need to be to look like what I'm envisioning - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I keep a notebook with all my dimensions just in case I need to go back 6 months or more and re-create something."

School Boy by Dazzling Delight

Time for our second entry for the PaperTwirlies Spring Wake Up challenge!  This week, we are showcasing Dazzling Delight paper quilling on Etsy.  Her 3D paper quilled school boy is a true amazement.  Here's what the artist, Beth, has to say about her morning routine:

"My son started kindergarten this year. It was quite tramatic for me, but he is thriving and LOVES it!! My mornings are sometimes a bit hectic (when I accidently hit that szooze one too many times!) but it's such a joy to see my son enjoying school and his teachers and friends!"

This paper quilled boy sculpture is so detailed, right down to his rock star sneakers, his little lunch box and his new backpack with zippers and hanging straps and all!

About Dazzling Delight:
I started paper quilling when I was around 13 years old. My great-aunt, who was a nun intriduced me to the art. I went to the library found all the books I could on the topic (I think it was 2 books!) and spent the rest of the afternoon hand cutting construction paper into long strips. My creations then were quite sad, but I was so proud of myself! Years later, I am still quilling and I love it just as much (maybe even more because I don't have to hand cut my strips of paper anymore!)

Perk Up by Fairy Cardmaker

Our first entry for the PaperTwirlies Spring Wake Up challenge is by FairyCardmaker. She says:

"There are two things I do religiously every morning: brush my teeth and set the kettle for tea. I need that fix of caffeine before I tackle the day! Everyone has their favourte coffee or tea place but mine is right at home in my kitchen."



This card is a quilled teacup card that can stand on its own to display the message inside.



About Fairy Cardmaker:

While I dabble in paper quilled cards, I specialize in cards that minimize mailing bulk. Many of the die cuts on my cards are my own designs and I am just starting to explore the world of stamps.

I started Fairy Cardmaker to support a local dog shelter. I also teach cardmaking and papercraft workshops where a portion of the class fee is donated to the Southern Ontario Animal Rescue (SOAR). Some cards in my shop have proceeds going to SOAR too.

Nature's Beauty Challenge - Dazzling Delight

Dazzling Delight delights us with her quilled designs! Dazzling's designs are often dainty and graceful. She does especially well with 3D figures - all twirled with paper! Her entry to the Papertwirlies' Team Challenge, "Nature's Beauty" is along the graceful lines:

This is an amazing way to create a lasting treasure for the new couple! Dazzling Delight says, "I love flowers! They cheer me up and just make me so happy!" Weddings are happy occasions so this tribute to nature suits this kind of event perfectly!

About Dazzling Delight:
I am obsessed with paper! It might be an unhealthy obsession....but it just makes me happy! I think the best gifts I ever receive are giant packets of paper! The possibilities are endless. Tis the season for weddings....I just celebrated my 7th wedding anniversary with my hubby! I love quilling wedding invitations...I think it's my favorite quilling to do (although I never quilled my own wedding invitation!!) It's my go-to gift whenever I get invited to a wedding. It's completely one-of-a-kind!!

Dazzling Delight has a Bachelors degree in Studio Art and her very favorite medium to work with is paper. She was introduced to paper quilling around the age of 13 and has been fascinated ever since!

Nature's Beauty Challenge: Quilly Nilly

Quilly Nilly designs fun and fresh quilled treasures. All her handcrafted quilled items have a light and whimsical feel. Here is her entry to the Papertwirlies' Team Challenge, "Nature's Beauty":


This quilled container proudly displays Nature's Beauty in the form of a paper quilled bee pollenating a flower so that many more flowers will grow one day! The little box took a total of 44 (!!) strips and the bee is a Quilly Nilly first.
